Weekly Haiku 23

Acorns squirreled away,

Ever in preparation;

Autumn’s days grow short.

What is this feeling?

A creeping dread, full of chill

And needless worry.

Vast as an ocean

This great stain upon the earth;

The Sahara waits.

Damned Sun

To venture outside;

Squinting eyes and sweat drenched skin

Proclaim the season.

Staccato lightning

Flickers on the horizon;

Empty road ahead.
